The campaign runs every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.

Cases of violence against women are not decreasing not only in India but all over the world. The threshold has been set for women everywhere, home or office. They have been tied up in such bonds by society, which has become their compulsion to fulfill their wish.

Why we celebrate Elimination of Violence against Women day –

On November 25, 1960, 3 sisters were killed. After the death of the three sisters from 1981, every year women rights advocates started celebrating this day as a tribute. On 17 November 1999, the United Nations declared 25 November as International Women’s Violence Eradication Day. Every year since 2000, International Women’s Violence Eradication Day was observed on 25 November every year.

The reason of the day is to raise awareness of the way that women around the globe are subject to rape, domestic violence and other types of issues; besides, one of the points of the day is to feature that the scale and real essence of the issue is regularly covered up.
